This spider is found on St. Vincent, an island in the Caribbean Lesser Antilles. It is a dark mostly uni-colored tarantula that can appear purplish-brown to almost black. Very fast and defensive, the tree spiders of the genus Tapinauchenius grow quickly to a moderate size and are very easy to keep in tall tropical terrariums.
