Also formerly referred to as Phormictopus cautus, this beautiful tarantula from the Dominican Republic has a metallic purple sheen to its carapace and dark legs with purplish-blue femurs. Spiderlings have a deep purplish color when under direct light. It is an aggressive feeder that grows moderately fast and thrives in a forest terrarium.
